Featured solution

Mavenir low-power digital active IBC

WSA pioneers Mavenir low-power digital active in-building coverage for government, health and commercial sites. Instead of bulky coaxial cable runs, carrier signals travel over a managed fibre backbone to compact active antenna units mounted in the ceiling.

The system is built from three modular units: the A3 access unit at the head end, E3 expansion units at floor or building distributor locations, and N3RU remote units with integrated antennas in the coverage areas. It takes Telstra, Optus and TPG feeds, with 2×2 MIMO on 1800 and 2100 MHz and 4×4 MIMO on 5G 3500 MHz.

Design, installation, integration, commissioning, handover and ongoing managed service are all delivered by WSA, in line with MCF2025 guidelines and carrier design requirements. Critical areas such as ICU, emergency and theatres can be brought online early, with temporary repeaters retained afterwards as a resilience layer during carrier outages.

  • Multi-carrier 4G & 5G with MIMO2×2 MIMO for 4G/5G and 4×4 MIMO for 5G 3500 MHz, delivering the capacity modern buildings need.
  • A fraction of the spaceFibre instead of multiple coax runs: a single small riser core and a much narrower cable tray, with far less rack space and cooling.
  • Monitored, not guessedAlways-on network monitoring of every unit, so faults are alarmed and diagnosed remotely.
  • Capacity changes without rebuildsCoverage zones and carrier capacity are re-mapped digitally, with no physical RF changes.
  • Upgrades without downtimeBuilt alongside a live legacy DAS and commissioned area by area, ideal for hospitals and operational sites.
  • Room to growAdd floors, buildings and new frequency bands over the same fibre backbone as your site expands.

Why it matters

Modern buildings are built to keep signal out

Energy-efficient glass, concrete, steel and basements all block mobile signal. The result is dropped calls, slow data and frustrated tenants, staff and customers.

Everyone works on mobile

Calls, apps, two-factor logins and hot-spotting all depend on a strong indoor signal.

Tenants expect it

Reliable coverage is now a basic expectation for leasing, and a selling point for smart buildings.

More connected devices

Sensors, payment terminals, lifts and alarms increasingly rely on the mobile network too.

Safety and 3G closure

People need to reach emergency services from anywhere in a building. With Australia's 3G networks switched off, older 3G-only repeaters may no longer help at all.

Mobile coverage solutions

The right mobile system for the site

For Telstra, Optus and TPG mobile coverage, we choose the architecture to suit the building's size, how critical it is, the carriers it needs and its lifecycle, rather than simply the lowest first cost.

Mobile DAS architectures

Every mobile DAS architecture, designed and built in-house

From simple passive systems to fully digital active networks, we design, install and commission every major in-building architecture, in SISO and MIMO, so the recommendation is driven by your site rather than by one product.

PassiveSISO

SISO passive DAS

A single RF path carried over coaxial cable, splitters and couplers to ceiling antennas, with no electronics in the distribution network. Simple, robust and cost-effective where data demand is moderate.

  • Typical throughput100–250 Mbps
  • Risers~2 × 100 mm cores
  • Cable tray~100 mm
Passive2×2 / 4×4 MIMO

MIMO passive DAS

Two or four independent RF paths to each antenna for higher capacity and throughput. It delivers strong performance in contained areas, but every antenna needs two or four coax runs, so cabling, riser space and RF balancing increase quickly on larger sites.

  • Typical throughput250–500 Mbps (2×2), 500–1,500 Mbps (4×4)
  • Risers~3–5 × 100 mm cores
  • Cable tray~150–250 mm
Hybrid high-power activeSISO & MIMO

CommScope ERA hybrid DAS

The CommScope ERA all-digital platform carries carrier signals from a central head-end over fibre to high-power remote units in distributed comms rooms. Each remote then feeds a local passive coax antenna network, in SISO or MIMO. This suits large buildings and campuses that need multi-carrier capacity over long distances, and existing ERA sites being extended or upgraded.

Public safety radio

GWN in-building coverage

The Government Wireless Network (GWN) is the radio network used by Queensland's police, ambulance and fire services. It's a separate system from mobile phone coverage, with its own frequencies, its own design requirements and its own approvals. We design and build dedicated GWN systems so first responders can communicate inside hospitals, police facilities and other critical buildings.

GWN passive DAS

A dedicated SISO antenna network for GWN radio, kept separate from mobile systems. We deliver the cable haul and fit-off, fibre haul and splicing where required, VSWR and PIM testing, and as-built documentation.

Off-air GWN repeaters

A rooftop donor antenna aligned to the serving GWN site, with a band-selective repeater feeding internal antennas. A practical, cost-effective way to cover operational areas, set up to suit donor quality and isolation.

GPS / GNSS re-radiation

Controlled indoor satellite signal inside aircraft hangars. Avionics can acquire GPS during maintenance and pre-flight checks without moving the aircraft outside. It's designed and commissioned as a separate system.

GWN frequencies, connection and acceptance criteria are confirmed with the relevant public-safety stakeholders on every project.

How we work

End to end, one accountable team

Every project moves through four stages. Engage us for the whole job or for any single stage.

FAQ

Common questions

Can't see your question? Get in touch.

What's the difference between repeater DAS and low-power active IBC?

A repeater DAS picks up the outside carrier network with donor antennas, amplifies it and distributes it over coaxial cable to ceiling antennas. It's cost-effective for smaller facilities. Low-power active IBC carries the carriers' signals over fibre to active antenna units. It delivers more capacity and MIMO, uses far less riser and tray space, and is monitored remotely, which suits larger and growing sites.

Can you upgrade our existing DAS without an outage?

Yes. An active system can be built alongside the existing DAS and commissioned area by area, so services stay live until each zone is cut over. Temporary repeaters can cover critical areas early.

Do you do GWN or other two-way radio coverage?

Yes. We design and install off-air GWN repeater systems with passive internal antenna networks for police, emergency services and operational facilities, subject to the relevant stakeholder approvals.

Do I need carrier approval?

Yes. In Australia, equipment that rebroadcasts mobile signal must be carrier-approved, or installed with the carrier's consent. We can help you work through the approval requirements for your project.

Will it support 5G?

Our low-power active systems support 5G 3500 MHz with 4×4 MIMO alongside 4G/5G on 1800 and 2100 MHz for Telstra, Optus and TPG. For repeater systems, we'll tell you up front which bands and carriers are covered.

How long does a project take?

A smart booster can often be installed in a day. A DAS depends on building size, carrier approvals and access, and we'll give you a realistic timeline with the quote.

Can you test or fix a system someone else installed?

Yes. We can sweep test, troubleshoot, re-commission and document existing systems, including older repeaters affected by the 3G shutdown.

Do you work as a subcontractor?

Yes. We work for integrators, managed-service providers and builders, and can deliver any single stage, from design or installation through to testing and handover.

Got a coverage problem or an upcoming project?

Tell us about the building or site, and we'll come back with the next steps and a quote.
